LGA 2011 vs LGA 1150

Go to solution Solved by Andi,

You could run a 3570k for 4 years and change your GPU every year. You don't need a 2011 for that.

im running a q8400@3.2ghz and can still pretty much run any game just fine at almost maxed settings (bf4 maxed 1600*900 6970 @30fps)! so that makes it over 5 years old!

so get yourself an i5 3570k or 4670k and you got a solid cpu for the next 4yrs at least! no need for socket 2011!! and get your self a 280x. if you have more money then go for a 290 or 780!

I may go for a 4670K or a 4770K, I can get a good deal. I wanted to for the X79 because I may want to go for 3 way SLI. I'm looking to get a GTX 780 Ti or a GTX 870.

Quote me to get a reply!

This is considered "Necroing" and is against the CoC. This means that you are reviving old and dead threads. Also something when the thread was moved.

Sorry for reviving it.  Came across the thread from a google search.  Didn't see how old it was.

I would have to disagree I would say get a higher end card and the add another on later. Having 2 cards from the beginning is limiting the option of more performance down the road.

The thing is that I always tell myself that I will sli/crossifre down the road instead of buying a new card and selling my old one. But it never happens because new features such as gamestream or shadowplay come along.

Finally my Santa hat doesn't look out of place

I've seen big benefits with x79 platforms with 2-4 way sli in huge resolutions (5760x1080 and above), I think thats where bandwidth actually starts to make a difference, I remember seeing a bunch of benchmarks somewhere, I'll see if I can find and edit my post with the findings even though this thread is old
