Hello guys,

So, I've just updated my current memory (KHX13C9B1BK2/4) to HX316c10FB/4. The reason was that one of my RAM slots does not work properly. If I put a stick into it, the PC will beep continuosly, and wont boot. So I decided to get a 4 GB single channel memory instead of teh a 2x2 GB dual channel ones.

After I put it into the working slot, I noticed that my PC started booting up, and everything was fine. However it stopped somewhere in the POST. After checking my CPU and the size of the memory, it stopped and rebooted. After a couple reboots it restarted itself and repeated the process.

So it checked the CPU, displayed it, then checked the size of the memory and displayed it as well.
It looked somehing like this: "Memory Testing : 4000000 KB OK", although it didnt check the the frequency, and rebooted instead.

To resolve the issue I tried reseting the CMOS with the jumper and by removing the battery as well. (some problems came along, but I managed to overcome them). After that I tried rebooting with the new stick. Nothing changed. Then I tried it with the old stick. It displayed a POST error, and wanted me to select a BIOS setup. I chose the "Default" one. It rebooted with the old stick without any issues. My next step was to reboot the PC after the third BIOS reset with the old stick, select "Default", and shut the PC down. Then put in the new stick, and start up with a "Default" BIOS and the new stick. Well, this didn't work either.

This slot is fine, since I tested it with different RAM sticks (other then these two) however they had similar specifications as the old stick. (speed and size)

System Specifications:

Gigabyte Technology H55M-S2H (it says D2H at boot screen)
BIOS: Award Software Int. Inc. ver. F3 08/20/2010
Intel Core i3 540 @ 3.07 GHz ; 4 cores

Radeon HD 5830 Twin Frozr II 2 GB DDR3 1333 MHz

Thanks in advance,

Anabra
