Cpu Temps Jumping

i just got a new motherboard and cpu the 4790k and i have an h60. my idlke temps are mid 40's which is not right and if i watch the temps thel jump up to like 70 or 80 for a split second then right back to 40. anyone know what it could be?

When usage spikes the temps do too...

What are you using to monitor the temps? HWMonitor?

Have you tried remounting the H60 and using some better thermal paste like MX-4?

And what does your CPU usage at idle look like? If it spiking up too or just flat?

i moved the cooler from one pc to this one and i am using mx-4 and at idle its at 2 percent and doesnt move.

nvm if i do anything the cpu usage goes up to like 12 percent and the temp rises to like 58 from low 40's.

must be a faulty temp sensor then...

thats really uncommon for an intel CPU

Did you clean the Thermal past completely of the H60?

Check the vcore voltage in bios. Some boards default to 1.3v or more. Mine was set @ 1.4v when I installed it.

Sometimes the corsair backplates are loose depending on the motherboard, and this can cause the CPU clock to not put enough pressure on the CPU to transfer the heat.

Putting small washers helps the CPU block tighten up better

okay now im really pissed off i was going to tighten it and a standoff broke in the screw and it wasnt even tight! im gunna need a new cooler now and i think that was the problem cuz its doing the same thing but worse now! so thanks for the help il get a new cooler and see if it helps!
