I have $1200. Looking for a build.

I have $1200 saved up and want to build a pc that i can expand in the future. I want a gaming pc but also want the ability to do small amounts of video edditing and adobe programs (Photoshop, illustrator, Flash, ect.)

If someone could help me out and come up with a list of parts i would be very thankfull.

side note, the $1200 bugget does not need to include OS or peripherals. :D

Is a 650w power supply good enough for a 290? my 280x has a 750w!

Its a great psu, but maybe the wattage is a little low?

otherwise a great build

I meant the other way around, surely 650 watts isn't enough juice for a beastly 290?

"For a system using a single Radeon R9 290 graphics card AMD specifies a minimum of a 750 Watt or greater system power supply. The power supply should also have a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 41 Amps or greater and have at least one 6-pin and one 8-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors.

Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Sufficient Total Combined Continuous Power/Current Available on the +12V Rail(s) rated at 45°C - 50°C ambient temperature, is the most critical factor.

Overclocking of the CPU and/or GPU(s) may require an additional increase to the maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current ratings, recommended above, to meet the increase in power required for the overclock. The additional amount required will depend on the magnitude of the overclock being attempted."

I would go for a better psu than the EVGA NEX. A Rosewill Capstone would be a better choice.

Why not Liquid cooler on that budget

The op mentioned he wanted to build a pc that he could expand in the future. The 850W psu will allow for a 2nd R9 290. If he doesn't plan on going crossfire then a 650W would be enough.

You don't need a H105 liquid cooler for an i5 4690K. The CM Hyper 212 is fine.

If the dvd drive isn't needed then the op can remove it.

The EVGA NEX isn't that good. For a single gpu then the Rosewill Capstone 650W is a better choice.

You are also overspending on the gpu. The Gigabyte R9 290 is $84 cheaper.

Rosewill have a greater presence in the Americas than Europe. The Rosewill Capstone is a very good psu though. It is made by Superflower, who also make psu's such as the EVGA G2/P2 Supernova (Not the NEX) and their own Leadex psu's.
