Hyper 212 Evo Temps?

Hey guys, so i just got a hyper 212 evo to replace my stock heatsink because i wanted it to be quieter and cooler. So i applied it two times before its final application.(As not to apply it wrong) So i go and test my temps with prime 95 and this is what i get.

This is lower with the 212 evo than i have seen before...is this normal? Not that i'm complaining just suprised. Thanks:)

That's obviously reading wrong, unless you're living under LN2. AMD FX CPUs are known for crappy temp readings. Try HWInfo

Looks like you got a faulty temp sensor. Use something like HWMonitor and look at what it says for socket temp. Usually the motherboard will also have a CPU temp sensor below it, so you can use that to know how hot it is.

AMD makes cheap POS temp sensors.

I think they use some algorithms instead of a physical probe on the CPU.

I did. There is no temperature measuring algorithm. What it is though, is that the CPU has a digital sensor that outputs a value, then tht value is decoded by an algorithm to give an accurate temperature reading. And apparently one of those two things doesn't work properly.

Well the sensor was working really well before i installed the cooler. Is there any way i could have damaged it?

Yeah. As long as your socket temp is below 65-70C you should be ok for overclocking the CPU.Just don't push it to the max.

Oh I'm not overclocking it...to much for my taste. But I did go into the bios and it said it was at 39°c. Is that ok?

Well the bios will tell you the same as any other temperature monitoring software...

I think you should be ok though.
