Second hand audio equipment

Quantzer

I am would like to know is it worth buying second hand headphones that by advertisers words are "opened once and have warranty"but in another country . Because I could save a little bit over 100$ and I can meet with this guy because he is in my town,so I can test them. I heard it's actually good because some headphones do need to be burned in a bit, but I would like to hear your experiences. I am talking about HD558 specifically.Thanks.Edit:They cost a about 240$ +/- in my country

IMO used audio equipment is probably hands down the best idea, as long as the pictures appear to be good condition, and you buy it with PayPal / from ebay to guarantee if there's something wrong you can return for a refund.

The pads will already be squishier and more comfortable than new, the clamping force should be a bit less than "new" so they should be more comfortable.

If you're saving money, then it's a good deal. Worst case scenario you have to wash or replace the pads.

It's over my country's advertiser and this Guy is on my town so I can inspect them personally but there is no refund. What I am worried about is can they be let's say cheap drivers inside hd558 casing? And one more thing he said that he bought them 28.02.2014. and he used them once , that's suspicious because why would he sell them then...

Did you want me to look at them and tell you whether they're in good condition?

Used equipment is the best.

if you have a keen eye and can solder, broken is even better.

Will work for electronic components and parts

broken cables are easily fixable if you have a soldering iron and some experience.

a broken headband may require some parts to be ordered.

you have to look at the brand, the value of what you are buying, and determine if it's worth the risk of the cost.

the shure 440's and 550's in my sig were $15ea. shipped they just had cable problems.

Will work for electronic components and parts

What Tower meant was, if you're handy with electronic repairs, you can get good deals (AKA cheap) on broken but good quality headphones. Some broken headphones only need a few soldering works to restore them to their glories.
