If you don't plan on getting a 2nd GPU, get the Corsair HX850

Neither, evga 750g2

You need like 850w minimum for 2x 290's I would be leaning towards 1000w myself.

PC: Corsair C70 Arctic, FX 9370, Corsair H80i, Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3, Corsair Vengence 16gb, Palit JetStream GTX 970, OCZ Vertex 4 128gb and Western Digital Blue 1Tb + 500gb, Antec Gamer 520w

Peripherals: Logitech G19 and SteelSeries Sensei RAW

Toshiba L50-A: i7 4700mq, 8gb, 1TB HDD, GT 740M 2gb

Wrong, but there is only 1 290.

Well I'm not lol...What is the point of getting a 750w for 1 card when you can spend a bit more and get a decent 850w that will support CF?

Do you plan on adding a 2nd R9 290 in the future ? If not then you can drop down to a 550W/650W.

Also are you not adding an aftermarket cpu cooler ?

You don't need 850W for a single gpu.

OP asked for a choice between the 2, and the Corsair one had 3 models, the 850W being the best option out of what he put forth to choose from.

Silence isn't really a factor with those Noctua Industrials lol.

For overclocking with 2x R9 290's we typically recommend 850W. So with a full custom loop overclocking everything as much as possible, 1000W isn't too much overkill. It depends if you're going to add another R9 290.

^ Except the G2 1000W is a good $60 less than the HX1000i. The P2 1000W is nearly $40 cheaper. The P2 1200W is only $6 more than the HX1000i ffs.

The EVGA 1000W currently in your system is the G1, which I can't recommend. The G2 is the one we all rave about because it's awesome. The G1 is new, with few reviews on it.

Yeah I know, but you said go for an 850W if you don't plan on getting a 2nd GPU which is wrong  :) You could have suggested an alternative lower wattage psu like a 550W/650W.
