SAMSUNG U28D590D Stand Removal

I'm trying to remove the stand for my SAMSUNG U28D590D and cant figure out how to get the neck out of the monitor panel.  Directions say to pound stand base with my first, dunno what that means.

Looks like while holding the neck of the monitor stand with your left, pound the back of the monitor with your right.

pound my monitor?!? what about the picture of the arrow, and it says to pound the base stand.  I almost broke my hand trying to get it off.
