Small Power House

Hexram

Hey guys

I am in the process of getting things together for a new build.

The aim of this build is to make something that is small (So i can take it to lans) but extreamly powerfull (high end gaming).

I dont have a name for it yet so if anyone has any suggestions please feel free to let me know.

So far i have

Motherboard - Maximus VII GENE - (mATX mother board)

Power supply - AX1500i

Hard Drive Plextor 512GB m.2 SSD. Model PX-G512M6e

Ram - 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600hmz

CPU - Intel i7 4790k

Graphics cards - 2 x R9 295x2

Optical drive - Slim line blue-ray writer

Things that i have orderd but not yet recieved

Case - Node 804.

Watercooling - lots of stuff, full cover blocks for GPUS, CPU block, rads, pump etc.

I plan to mod the Node 804 to take more radiators.

I had a spare bitfenix Phenom Matx case that i am considering useing to run memtest and benchmark programs to make sure everything is working until the node 804 arrives.

I know that the photo below is not in full focus but its the only one i have at the moment. Ill take more along the way.

Hi KPZ211997

It was the only way I could think of to get 4 gpu cores on a mATX motherboard with out paying the ridiculous price for Titan-z cards

But 32 GB of RAM and 2xR9 295X2 ._.?

Yeah the ram is over kill but i hope to be upgrading my screens when adaptive sync monitors come out to 3 2560x1440 and want to keep reasonable frame rates.

Hey guys

Just put the ram into the motherboard.

Still no case but i want to test the components to make sure i don't need to return anything.

I am using the motherboard box as the platform (No test bench  :( ). Anyone think that i should have a fan blowing onto the motherboard when running memtest or gpu benchmarks (Got the AC cranking so ambient temp is low but no airflow past motherboard.)

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it

Hey guys just an update. The water cooling parts I ordered are on back order until the 30th of September :( so i don't know what i am going to do. Might have to buy from a different vender.

Also if anyone has a name for the build they would like to throw into the ring i would love to hear it.

  • 4 months later...

Hey guys. Sorry it took so long but here are some more prictures of the rig still in progress. Its hard to fit it all in the case but for cooling i went with 1 x 240, 1 x 280 and 1 x 120 rads

I need custom length psu cables :P

Thinking about calling it dwarven warrior. Dwarves are small but powerfull. This thing is small but a bit of a beast for its size.
