Good network adapter for desktop?

I am currently using an asus ac53 adapter and i HATE IT! it has sooo many issues! I need your suggestions for a new network adapter. i want it to have 802.11ac and windows 8.1 compatible. what do you guys recommend? i dont care if its PCI or USB

not sure what is nic is...my mobo is a asus m5a97 R2.0....

A NIC is an ethernet port (more or less). Wired is substantially better than wireless so use it instead if you can. No connection issues, faster speeds, etc.
