HDD died, errors come up when trying to install programs

Hi, a few months back an old HDD called E:\ died, ever since some programs have had errors installing. Java gives me errors pertaining to the dead drive, saying " Error 1327: Invalid drive E:\" aswell as other giving similar errors. I know it's something to do with the registry, and old keys of programs which used to be installed on the drive messing with the install, I was hoping someone knows how to fix this. I have tried going through to the Shell_Folder in my registry, but all data values are to do with my C drive.

Any help would be great, this is really getting to me, thanks.

Have you tried re installing Java ? Dont go messing with Registry as you can cause further issues. Programs and software store information (like user data and program settings) in Program Data folder. So have you looked there ?

I fixed it, but I used CMD and the subst command. I have tried uninstalling all Java components before with no success.
