Little Help?

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

I have looked at the KitGURU review as well as the OC3D review of the 1000W and they have come out pretty decent. Also here there is only a £20 difference in the cost between the G2 and the HXi so that wont really make too much of a difference.

The HXi looks to be a good psu, so I wouldn't try and dissuade you from going for it. Also you would need the EVGA P2 1000W if you wanted eco fan mode, as the G2 1000W doesn't have that feature. Also the P2 is a bit more expensive than the G2.

@Cokeman You've already demonstrated you don't know crap about power supplies. Remember the recent thread where you insisted you needed 600W to run a 780?

@Roscoe What are you running? The system in your profile doesn't need anywhere near 750W.

If you do need 750W, the HX750i is a very good option, but quite expensive. The AX760i is also excellent, but very expensive as well.

The top pick right now is the EVGA G2 750W. It's excellent and much cheaper than the two units above, and most similar 750W units.

Because they make good PSUs and I have had good experiences with them

Corsair don't actually make any of the psu's, and just because you have had good experiences with them doesn't mean you should have a hissy fit everytime someone suggests a better alternative, of which there are many.

If you can buy a better power supply than the RM for the same price, then it makes sense to go with that.

I said they recommended a 600W

I said they recommended a 600W

You said this:

It has to be 600W or bigger for the GTX 780

But Nvidia says you need a 600W PSU don't risk it.

Ok don't be mad when it doesn't work

Seems like you were pretty confident in your ignorance.

Also, you do insist on the RM Series. You recommend them every time, and even said this.

YES. Please do not let the 300 people talk you into getting a EVGA G2

Please don't let people talk the OP into getting a better cheaper power supply?

EDIT: More recently, you said this.

It doesn't coil whine they use special capacitors that don't whine.

Linus has/had a XFX 1000W platinum PSU and it coil whined

You like showing your ignorance.

I am currently running the rig in my set up, but am overclocking my CPU and am looking into getting a higher end GPU soon so want to over estimate a little for the future. From what I have seen the new HX750i seems to be getting really good reviews, so will probably keep and eye on that and if it stands up possible get that. It will also allow me to have a near silent rig with the flan profiles!

The EVGA G2 750W/850W has eco fan mode just like the Corsair units. The HXi is a pretty good spec though (Platinum and 7 yr warranty) but it is a bit pricey when compared to either the EVGA G2 or Superflower Leadex Gold.

Expect the HXi to be very quiet, like the RM Series. Unlike the RM, the HXi does actually have an FDB fan and is of great quality, but like the RM series it's expensive.

The G2 is much cheaper, while giving comparably excellent performance.

You almost certainly won't need 750W for a single GPU system. Very unlikely that your GPU will use more than 300W, unlikely that your overclocked CPU will use more than 125W.

Also what reviews have you been reading?

I have only seen a review of the 1000W model on kitguru. It looks like a very good psu. The Internals on the Primary side use Rubycon caps which is very good, and you can't argue with Platinum rating either.

If they dropped the price a little bit, then these would be a very good alternative to the EVGA/Superflower psu's.

Except it's Corsair, so ofc they won't. I'm quite pleased with the HXi's quality though.

I recommended to EVGA that they start lowering the G2 Series to compete with the lower RM Series, and then market their PSUs as Corsair killers.

G2 beats RM and AX in quality and price

P2 beats HXi and AXi in price.

And who knows, P2 or T2 1600W may destroy the AX1500i. G2 1600W is serious competition for it already, but people buy because of "80Plus Titanium", even if the efficiency difference isn't much.

Cheers man, thanks for the advice. Think I will probably go with the HX750i but will let you know!

Im not fanboying I'm just mad that there are a lot of people who hate the RM PSUs and I get tired of everyone recommending the EVGA and calling the RM junk.

The RM is junk...EVGA G2/P2 is higher rated...check my sig for an official tier thread of power supplies.

If you've previously won the build off please pm me so we can get something worked out.
