I would say Asus is the top dog, but I can't really back that up with evidence. They're the most popular I would say. I hear Gigabyte and MSI offer good boards aswell.

Intel Core i7-5820K (4.4 GHz) | Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB  | 2x 360mm Custom Loop (Noctua iPPC) | ASRock X99 Extreme6 | Samsung 840 EVO 250GB | Fractal Design Define S | Corsair HX750 | Windows 10 | Corsair M65 RGB PRO | Corsair K70 RGB LUX (CherryMX Brown) | Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro & Creative Sound Blaster Z | Nexus 6P (32GB Aluminium) | Check out my setup: Project Kalte Here!

ASUS Sabretooth

And Server boards are good too.

Okay the sabretooth is what i'm planning on having in my build but i keep getting told they're over priced and not worth it. From what i've seen though they're pretty solid boards.

Yes, they do seem like great boards. Best of luck

They are overpriced and completely not worth it, a good motherboard brings nothing to the table compared to a better GPU.

The thing is that it will give you that peace of mind with the 5-year warranty. It will definitely last 5 years, if not more. But then again, most motherboards will last 5 years if you don't mistreat them.

Compatible with Windows 95

What good motherboards are there that aren't overpriced? I got told a Asus z97 A was good but its only a 30 dollar difference in the end.

I'd get a Gigabyte board.

For the simple reason of: Hackintosh.

You may see very little reason to do it now, but 3 years down the line, you will probably want to do it.

I have a gigabyte (Z77) board, it is 2 years old and it works just like the day that it was new.

I would say any mid-high end board from Asus, Gigabyte or MSI is going to be solid. If you need the features that are on the Sabertooth then that is all that matters. A Z97 board will easily last 4-5 years, as there is still Broadwell to be released next year.
