Hello Sirs,

I'm planning to get a PC build soon. I'm willing to pay 1700 ~ 1900$ USA. I live in UAE but I heard that I can make a special address for me there via Aramex or MyUs.

I need the computer for Gaming, Editing & Designing. I need your help for making me a build, and yes I'm looking for over clocking.

Tips: these are some things that I would like them in the build (saw them from LinusTechTips on YT).

Intel i7 3770k or i5 3570k.

Best Motherboard for Gaming & Editing (you choose).

Best Graphics Cars for Gaming/Editing (you choose).

1TB Hard Drive

180GB SSD

16GB RAM

Corsair GS700 power supply.

Corsair H100i

Corsair SP120 Quiet Fans

Cooler Master Scout II Case

Monitor 24" LED

Regards,

Caution

I'd go with the 3770K if you are also going to edit because it has hyperthreading.

The hd 7870 or hd 7950 are great value cards for gaming.

For the motherboard it depends mostly on the features you want, because when gaming they will perform almost the same.

For that budget you could go with something like this:

 http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=17127709

You can pick and choose with each component to move the overall cost up or down but if I were to build a system with that budget and those requested parts, this is what I would go with.

i7-4770K, ASUS Z87 Gryphon, EVGA GTX 780 Ti, 16 GB Kingston Fury RAM, Crucial M500 240 GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda, Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo, Seasonic 760W PSU, Asus BD, Phanteks Evlolv mATX (Gunmetal).

Okay. Now You both helped me a lot. But I still have some questions I will appreciate it if you answer them.

Regarding the graphics card, does AMD give the same benefits as nVidia? Is 3GB enough to play mw3 at high quality and edit videos/designing? I have a friend who got a 6GB AMD, and another one who got nVidia 4GB. They both swear about how awesome are they. That's why I'm a bit confused.

Does the i7 Core give the same benefits as for gaming? Because I heard some people saying that the i5 is better for gaming.

Last question, what is better in your opinion? The Gigabyte Z77X-U3DH or MSI Z77A-GD65 Gaming ? I just care about playing games such as MW3 or Black Ops II in high quality without any sort of lagging & to edit videos freely.

I'm really sorry for asking many questions, I really appreciate it.

AMD does not have physx and cuda and it depends on what resolution you play if 3gb is enough. It will certainly be enough for 1080p gaming. I don't know what impact editing video's has on vram usage.

The i7 doesn't have the same benefits when gaming because games don't really take advantage of hyperthreading. An i5 is a "better bang for the buck" if you only game on it. (That's why people say it's better for gaming)

The GD65 gaming has better onboard sound and has better networking options but if you don't care about those than go with the gigabyte one. (or you need to like the red color sheme more).

As far as the GPU goes, 2GB of VRAM is plenty enough to game at 1080p.  For video editing and (especially) rendering, the more VRAM, the better.  We don't know much about nVidia's new GPU lineup, but the AMD 7XXX series has been doing really well and is a great value considering the game bundles that the AMD cards come with.  If you're going to be doing stuff that can utilize CUDA, like Adobe CS, then you may want to look into going with nVidia.

The main difference between an i7-3770K and an i5-3570K is that the i7 has hyper-threading which is basically the ability to run 8 virtual cores while only having 4 physical cores.  This doesn't give most games much of an advantage since they usually never need that many processing threads, hence why gamers often prefer the 3570K as Samskip pointed out.  I run a 3770K since I render and encode lots of videos and it's a massive improvement over my old Core2Duo setup... *shudders*

That Gigabyte Motherboard is great too.  I'm a sucker for asthetics so I really like the MSI one but both are very good and comparable to each other.  the Gigabyte appears to be a bit cheaper too. :)

HOLD ON !!! Intel Xeon E3-1230 v2. basically a 3770 for 200 usd. And you can save money on the mb because you cant oc that cpu anyways. so any h77 or b75 mb will do the job. ;)

Personal Build Project "Rained-On"

helped building up the CPU Overclocking Database and GPU Overclocking Database, check them out ;)
