Checking a processor

Hi,

 

i have a E5200 2.5 GHz processor and i'm not sure whether it works. i downloaded a BIOS update for my MSI 0ab8 motherboard from http://mxdtr.com/msi-0ab8-driver-bios-update/ . but in my booting screen it shows V 1.09 and i tested my E5200 processor and the results were it loaded the boot screen then it goes black with a little white light coming from the bottom of my screen it works well with my E2200 with came with my MoBo. Does this show my E5200 processor doesn't work or i didn't update my BIOS correctly?

Did you reset CMOS after you tried with another CPU? That newer chip is on supported list, so you could try to reflash BIOS if you think that could be a factor.

Sorry but idk how to do what u said above, can u give me a link of it?

EDIT: i have 1 option in my BIOS to change. "Switch to optimal settings" nothing else

Check your mobo manual. Clearing CMOS will reset mobo settings. Its basicly same as switching to optimal settings, but works better. There are few ways of doing it. Easiest it to take mobo battery off for few secs while system is powered down.

i tried and the result was same. idk whether this shows something but my CPU is hot after switching on, hot i mean at its normal temp under load
