So I just got a GTX 770, and the monitor im using currently only has VGA (horrible, I know, and a new monitor is on the way). My question is, can I connect this monitor to the VGA port on my motherboard and still take advantage of the 770, or will it run on the on-board graphics?

Easy solution: Burn the damn monitor!

Other solution: Get a DVI-I to VGA adapter.

Other Other Solution: Just plug into the motherboard and use integrated graphics.

I don't think that the onboard graphics will be usable once you install a graphics card, so the output on your motherboard won't work.

If your graphics card doesn't have a VGA output then you can use a DVI-VGA adapter on a DVI-I port, like this:

I feel your pain dude, currently building and will have to use a old aoc 8ms 1366x768 aoc vga monitor until December. But as others have sai, dvi to vga adapter will do the trick, i will be using the same.
