If you have low ram, i.e 4GB ram on a 32bit OS, and have a ton of other things in the background, then a little.

Otherwise, not really - it'll just eat a small amount of ram in order to run, but shouldn't affect you whilst gaming.

I have an interesting experience regarding rainmeter and gaming.

A long time ago I started using a Rainmeter skin on my laptop. It was great and I got a lot of use out of it. After about 7-8 months though I started finding some weird issues. Namely some games I found started stuttering, and my when it did it was because my CPU usage had shot up to +90%. It only did this for a few seconds at a time, but I shouldn't have to explain that it was very annoying.  As time went on the stutters became more and more common and before long the increases in CPU spikes started causing my laptop to overheat. And it got worse. And worse. And worse. Soon some of my games would cause my laptop to overheat before even reaching the main menu. This was very inconsistent though. I could play PS2 for about an hour before overheat, Crysis for about 30-45 minutes, but Blacklight: Retribution for about 15 seconds.

Long story short, watch your temps and look out for CPU usage spikes. You may have to turn off Rainmeter when gaming.

I can be a cynical a**hole at times. I apologize if I cause any offence at those time. I also occasionally have issues communicating my point. Extreme introversion + Photographic memory + Some other things.
