I'm looking for a new PC case, my old is, lets just say, its old (about 6 years I think), so it doesn't have any new cool stuff, like cable management or a bottom mounted PSU. So I am considering the DEFINE R4 as a viable option, so I'm looking for recommendations from people that have it, if you like it or not. Alternatively I would be happy if you could recommend some other cases, mostly optimized for a gaming pc that runs quietly. I don't use SLI graphic cards, liquid cooling or anything like that so the case doesn't have to be massive. My budget is about €100/130$.

I just built a new system a few days ago with the Define R4 and I think it is a great case. I'm running Noctua x4 140mm and x2 120mm (for my h100i) fans and once I got them on silent operation in BIOS / Corsair Link it's very quiet and my components are running nice and cool.

My two marks against it would be:

  1. Says there are SSD mounts on back of motherboard, but you need to screw the SSDs in before you install the motherboard. Luckily, I RTFM'd and caught it before installing the mobo. I've read many people missing that particular part.
  2. Clearance from the top of the case to the mobo means you can't fit the bigger radiators there. They recommend the thinner 240mm ones (I use an h100i myself). I have read people fitting bigger ones in the front, but that requires removing/moving HDD cages which I can't do because I need quite a bit of HDDs and I use a 140mm fan on the bottom.

Since you say you do not run liquid cooling point #2 isn't an issue at all for you. So yeah, I find the Define R4 to be an excellent case and would certainly recommend it.

I can't offer personal experience as I immediately replaced them all with Noctuas from the start. My desktop is in my bedroom so I like to replace all the fans with Noctuas.

Anyways, the case comes with 2x 140mm Silent Series R2 fans and going through the Newegg comments and specs it appears that they are silent, but not optimized for air flow through radiators or whatever. They should be just fine for your purposes, imo.
