I have been stuck with my G35 gaming headset for far to long now and think it is time to get some real headphones, but I need some advice since this is my first step into the audio world.

The headphones I have been looking at are the DT880 premium 250 ohm (I wan't the premiums because of the curly cable on the pros). I will be using them for gaming, voice chatting and all around music listening.

Are those headphones a good decision for my needs?

Secondly, do I need an amp for those headphones? I have a Maximus VI Formula as my motherboard that at least on on the box says it can drive up to 600 ohm headphones. In case I do need one, which should I be considering?

Hey man so I'd say those are a sound choice for headphones and as @ShearMe said you shouldn't need an amp to drive them. Just to delve a little deeper what kind of music are you listening to? (This can make or break a set of headphones for some people)
