So i recently bought a new computer rig and putted it together. Right now it has 1tb inside the system with windows 8.1 installed fresh. Is it ok to use my old hard drive to access my files but still use my windows 8.1. I heard that it can muck up your whole build or break the other hard drives. I " don't " want to use my old OS i just want to access the files. Is that still possible. Please looking for someone who has knowledge or experience doing this

I don't know what your talking about unless one of these where you put in your hdd to this and connect it to your computer through usb.

just put in your old hard drive, make sure the boot priority is for your new hard drive.  And bootup into windows, you might be alerted to either boot into either one, just hit windows 8.1, get your files and you should be good as gold.  Don't quote me on that though.
