Would that even work?  Cpu uses 65 watts

yea, 

 

stock 750ti doesnt even have 6 pin connectors, so max tdp of that is 75 watts :D

My system is a hp p7 1226s that was gift. 

dual core i3 with hyper threading 3.4ghz

6gb ram

And it has a 300 watt psu

IS their even a GPU that would work in this system?

Should work for now but look into a PSU upgrade

 The Wannabe is no longer. Replaced by the Flotilla. If you replace every part of a computer is it still the same computer?

Maybe a cheap PSU like the VS series from Corsair just for that 80+ efficiency.
