my new pc have high temps during stress test which makes the pc shuts off

Blue123

I recently build this pc

asus z97 a

i7 4790k

h100i

r9 280x

When i was setting it up it booted normaly, maybe the bios arent configured right. But i wanted to stress test it using aida64, and it was going above 90 degress celsius, and sometimes even 100 which made the computer shutting it self off. All the parts are 3 days old.

On idle its around 34 but sometimes strangly it goes up to 40. I took some screenshots of the temps and core voltage incase anyone wants to help.

make sure the cooler is correctly installed and if you removed the plastic think that protects the thermal interface material

It should be stressed during testing but not enough to cause it to shut down because of high temperatures. Idle temps are normal. Remove the cooler and check if the thermal paste is covering the cpu. Reseat the cooler and stress test again.

i bet the cooler isn't installed properly... you should get those temps at those settings with the stock cooler

I mean there is no way its not properly installed, its seated nicely maybe the fans arent blowing in the right way

fan orientation wouldn't make that big of a difference and even if the fans where stopped temps wouldn't spike that quickly

btw you should turn those fans arround for them to be an exaust and not an intake

Screwdriver of course, i think i will head out to buy some new thermal paste and re mount it. Or is necessary to clean it because i have only had it for 2 days

Thanks guys i think the temps are ok now, i have 60-70 when stress testing it, and 20-30 idle, i think changing the thermal and making sure it was mounted correctly played a huge deal . Thanks again
