Future CPU upgrade

Hi!

 

I'm getting an Asus GeForce GTX 780ti DCIIOC this fall, and therefore I'm throwing out my CPU (i5 4670K) out the window to the highest bidder.

 

Since I'm also going to work with video editing, and amateur-level server hosting, I'm looking for a new CPU, and I do NOT need an integrated GPU in that CPU, since I'm getting the 780ti.

 

 

 

If you vote for the Xeon line of CPU's, can you also give me an advice to which one I should get?

 

 

 

And also, please no suggestions for Team Red (AMD), I prefer Nvidia and Intel, sorry.

I lack knowledge and interest for AMD, therefore I go with Team Blue and Team Green, since they have also never failed anyone I know.

I think a 4770k should be enough for things you gonna do. You can oc the 4770K to match the performance of the 4790K.

the 4790k is a solid upgrade at the same cost, and the improved thermal compound and capacitors will help with OCing.

If you're not overclocking then hands down Xeon E3-1230V3 (not the 1220, that one doesn't have HT)

whats the point in even getting a 4690k if you're going to replace it so fast...

ANYHOW, the 4790k is like 1ghz higher than a 1230v so just go with that.

isn't a hyper 212 evo almost the same for like 20$ cheaper?

Intel Xeon CPUs are optimized for server operation. Unless you do want to run a server, get an i7 4790K.

I have the 4790k, and.... Daaaaaaaaamn.....

I overclocked it to 4.8 Ghz, 1.35 volts

It achieved a score of 957 in cinebench. For video editing, definitely go for it.

what I mean is that if you want to vote for Xeon then do so, then if xeon doesnt win you also get a saying in which i7 you recommend
