I need some help doing some hunting for a laptop. I've got a buddy who is looking to get a budget laptop (he doesn't have a lot of money) in the 250-350 range. He wants to look at purchasing from amazon so his Dad can do a payment plan with him, but I'm having obvious troubles finding anything relatively OK. I can't bare to tell him to buy a celeron...does anyone have any ideas? Worse comes to worse I'll TRY and talk him into spending an extra 50-100, but he really probably doesn't have it. Thanks guys.

You really can't dig yourself out of the crap hole without going into the $500 price range. (That is, for new laptops)

Try this: http://www.amazon.com/Dell-i3147-3750sLV-11-6-Inch-Convertible-Touchscreen/dp/B00KMRGF3M/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1407720254&sr=8-2&keywords=Inspiron+3000

You recommending a dell? Wow what has this world come to :P

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

IIRC Dell does offer the best $300~ laptops.

Although, I wouldn't go near a Dell with a 100 foot pole. I'd consider an XPS with a 10 foot pole though.
