now im a total noob at OC, i have a 4690K, and the stock speed is 3.5, can i do something like overclock it to 3.7 and still have turbo boost?

mobo is msi gaming 5

turbo boost is just an automatic overclocker

 

why just to 3.7 turbo boost gives you that all ready and you already have a great cooler why not push it to 4.2 ghz + its what everone is doing

That chip should be able to do 4.5+, but you'll have to start changing voltages.  Watch any number of Haswell or

(your CPU) overclocking guides to learn how to do it.  It is quite simple, but follow the instructions closely.  

Basically, you can beat "turbo boost" by a large margin by overclocking it yourself.
