500 CDN is around what, 460 US these days? For that price probably the r9 290 is the best card out there.

The gtx 780 is a bit more and the r9 290x a little more still so it would depend on how much more youd be willing to go over I think.

I like the tri x r9 290 and the windforce r9 290 and if i save up i could probably get a gtx 780.......what is the difference between the windforce and the tri x? Which r9 290 is better?

Tri X and Windforce both cool well. Tri-X will overclock a little bit better. I would go with the Tri-X

A week after I bought my 290 I saw an acx 780 for 450 on Newegg.ca I had put it on price alert quite some time ago. Stil... 290 beats 780 in almost every way, so I still would have gone with the 290. Best card for sure under 500 cans

If i find the windforce or a 780 for about $50-$100 cheaper should i get it or spend more for the tri-x?

I would get whatever you can get for cheaper. If that be a Windforce or a 780 then go that route.
