What temps were you getting before you got the H105?

It seems a bit off as I was getting about the same temps with the stock cooler.

I got those same temps with a dusty stock cooler from 2008... check the seating of your block.

About 65c. I replaced the Intel stock cooler due to fan failure

Buy some good thermal paste then re-install the cooler with the new paste because 70c is really high for a H105 on a stock 3770k

I've re-applied it with IC Diamond 7, still extremely horrible temps.

Only other things i can i think of is the configuration of the fans or maybe a bad pump.

Could it possibly be the motherboard? I had to swap it from a Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe to a Gigabyte GA-Z77x-UP7, and temps seem to be a lot higher on the gigabyte board.

Iv'e never heard of a motherboard causing a cooler to have bad temps, unless it's giving false readings or something.

The block itself is extremely hot

Maybe send it back to Corsair to have it replaced.

@brutuscat2

welcome to the Linus Tech Tips forums!

changing motherboards can effect the temperatures if a different voltage is used

to supply the CPU (even in stock CPU-Z check).

what fan speed are you using?

the backplate has an orientation necessary:

another to look for is the up/down slack, some have reported that using a 4mm

rubber washer on that same back plate can add a bit more force to the coldplate

and IHS.

Well, if you hear some sort of 'slurping' sounds, it's bad because it may imply lack of liquid and/or problems with the whole thing.

and yeah, you should check out the mounting as the guys here said. The contact between the block and the CPU might be off by a few millimeters but that has a significant effect on heat transfer. Try what the moderator said.

How're the voltage readings on the CPU?

You can bark like a dog, but that won't make you a dog.

You can act like someone you're not, but that won't change who you are.

Finished Crysis without a discrete GPU,15 FPS average, and a lot of heart

How I plan my builds -

Spoiler

For me I start with the "There's no way I'm not gonna spend $1,000 on a system."

Followed by the "Wow I need to buy the OS for a $100!?"

Then "Let's start with the 'best budget GPU' and 'best budget CPU' that actually fits what I think is my budget."

Realizing my budget is a lot less, I work my way to "I think these new games will run on a cheap ass CPU."

Then end with "The new parts launching next year is probably gonna be better and faster for the same price so I'll just buy next year."

I am running the fans on PWM.

The voltage is detected as 1.14v.
