You can buy a splitter that turns one DisplayPort into 2 or 3.

I assume you mean DP and not DVI.

first off with Nvidia it's called NVSurround

Get splitters or adapters (like dual link dvi to HDMI or something),

IIRC signal only comes out of the first card if you go SLI

You can run 4 monitors off of 1 Nvidia card (600 Series and above (not sure about lower cards).

I have 3x 1080p monitors in surround and 1x 1080p monitor as an accessory (meaning it can be used for other things) All running off of 1 GTX 660 ti.

I am using all the ports with the following cables

Display port = DisplayPort to DVI cable

HDMI = HDMI Cable

DVI = DVI to HDMI

DVI = DVI to DVI

Adapters are brilliant things, by the way don't bother getting expensive cables I am using the cheapest ones you will find off of Amazon, and they have worked perfectly for over a year.  (tested a cheap £3 HDMI cable against a £20 HDMI cable and there was no difference. No i didn't buy the £20 one a friend lent it to me so I could test it)

but I would suggest waiting until we see benchmarks for the new 800 series before you decide.

I have three lg 27ea73 monitors and sli 780 i can tell you that what you are talking about is going to give you a terrible experience where you will spend 30ish percent of the time trying to make the shit run in the game and 70 percent hating/living with the additional bugs, glitches, low settings and low frame rate wishing you could go back to perhaps buy a 21:9 LG 34um95 instead because that is what i am doing right now.

Also them cables!

I was lucky i have a cable management hatch installed inside my wall but every time i need to move something it becomes a friggin chore.

Whether you have one or two 880s, don't get too excited about gaming in 7680x1440. It'll not work well. It'll be amazing for everything else though! :)

Well he could just lower the resolution to 5760x1080 whenever he wants to. Obviously not as good as 7680x1440, but it's not terrible

Well it is cool as hell from time to time so i like it more than having a single 1080p monitor but if i would have had the option to buy the LG34um95 instead i would 100% have done that.

It is not as demanding to drive, takes up less space, has less cables and most importantly has better driver support.

I have had my nv surround for about a year now.

Hmm, ok, though from what I understand Eyefinity is a better experience than NV surround, just some food for thought next time you want to upgrade the GPUs.

For me it's tricky, I always have a lot of documents open simultaneously for work, and a triple monitor setup would give me the most room. I also like to keep things quite large because of my bad eyesight, so pixels-per-inch is not so important for me for working.

Then the cost, For the price of the 34um95 I could get three good monitors and still have a couple hundred of quid left in my pocket, and I can also stagger the costs as I doubt I'd be able to justify the spend all at once. (two monitors now then another later on when I can get a second GPU or something).

Gaming is secondary to work for me and I typically only have time to play AAA games periodically, and Hayden from WSGF seems really good at getting fixes out very fast.

Still have time to think about it myself though haha.

Sure if you are willing to tinker a lot triple monitor as i said is cool as hell but if you are going to do it i would recommend buying them all at the same time.

I had been wanting to do it for years and just like you i thought i would just buy the monitors one by one but what happened was that the monitor i had bought had stopped being produced and the once i found was so ridiculously expensive for the quality that i ended up with 3 non matching monitors and that was horrible they all looked different color wise and height wise.

It rely is not that expensive with 3 1080p good quality ips monitors.

I understand the concern, but with what I've worked out I'd get two in September and the third in October, I just can't quite spare the extra £180 in September unfortunately. I'm looking at Dell u2414h's which are pretty common I think for this setup and a replacement isn't on the cards I'd assume for another year or so.

Again though, from my perspective I need loads of room to work on which I'd typically use two monitors for, so getting a third one and doing eyefinity does sound like a cool thing to do :P

I plan on buying a third monitor but I'm not sure what to do about ports.. I'm waiting for the GTX 880 release then I'm going to buy a third 1440p monitor, but I need DVI ports. Would I need to buy another 880 for SLI or could I just buy a low end GPU?

yes you could just buy a lowend gpu but really you sound like your begging for 10fps xD 3x1440p is higher than 2160p by a decent margin and I dont think the 880 even in SLI will run it smoothly at all.

You don't think two GTX 880's will be able to play a game at 7680x1440 (60fps)? lol ok
