Hey all, just wanted to make sure that the FM2+ socket type on a motherboard is definetly backwards compatible...

Any help would be appreciated, as I am trying to build a new PC on a very tight budget, but am willing to buy a Richland APU and upgrade to a Kaveri down the line, if FM2+ is truly backwards compatible.

Thank you!

It's compatible with all FM2 CPUs as well with FM2+ CPUs.

So, you can have for example a Athlon X4 760K working there, and jump to a A10 7850K without having to do any updates or anything else.

You cannot use a A10 7850K on a FM2 socket, you need FM2+ for it.

They are backwards compatible, and the next APU (Carrizo) is also suppose to be compatible with current FM2+ sockets.
