Hello, I am in need of a build for a server. I would like it to be running a Garry's Mod server, and a Minecraft server. The servers will only have like 10 players max on them at one time. I want it to be the cheapest possible while being able to run three game servers at once without much lag nearly 24/7. Thanks if you help! Edit: I only need to run one at a time if server parts are expensive. I'd like to spend around $1000 USD.

You know what would help... a budget...

I said "be the cheapest possible while being able to run three game servers at once without lag nearly 24/7" Not over 2k, if it has to be more to run them without lag, I'll just only run two or one at a time.

Budget. What you think of cheap and what I and other people think of as cheap are completely different things. What's roughly what you'd want to spend?

Not really sure, as I don't know much about server components. I'd like to spend less than $1000 I guess.

Okay, do you have any recommendations?

Ramnode has nice, fairly cheap VPS available. Low latency for the most part too.

Even their cheapest option ought to be able to run a GMod server, or pretty much any game server that likes running in a *nix environment.

Minecraft is a bit more of a problem, due to running in JVM. Requires a fuckton of memory and quite a bit of CPU.

Depends on the home connection.

I have never seen a home hosted server that gets less than 100ms latency to, for example NL to SE. Even in-country the connections are usually around 60ms even in small countries, and that's not lag-free either. That's compared to a smooth and constant 40ms for an overseas VPS, once again, NL to SE.

And I've seen a lot of home hosted servers.
