Hi guys first off my laptop was struck by lighting 2 months ago so I am trying to post this with my HTCm8 it's not going to be perfect so the grammer Nazi's can suck it.

I am building a new rig for the first time for under for around $2500. Shooting for it being on my desk before 01/01/14 mostly for gaming and some 3D and a little picture and audio editing

I have done alot of research over the past year so I have a semi solid list of parts.

Case corsair 450D

Motherboard Asus hero

Processor Intel I7 4790k

Gpu asus gtx 780ti

Ram Kingston hyperx fury 1866 16gb 4x4

Psu corsair Ax860i 80+platinum

Blue ray drive

LG 14x Internal BDXL Blu-Ray Burner Rewriter WH14NS4The

The Hard drives

Boot drive

Corsair Neutron GTX 240GB

Games

Corsair Force LX 512gb or wd black 1tb still undecided

Mass storage

Wd green 2tb x 2

Cooling

Corsair h100i

Corsair sp140 red led x2

Corsair sp120 x6

There it is

So now down to what your thoughts are. and if I am missing something or for a extra couple hundred should I go complete water cooled custom loop and all. want it to look good and stay under $2850

Also I am kinda holding out to see what the nvidia 800 series has to offer.

And ddr4 is kinda being elusive as to when we see it on the market.

I have a pretty good 23" 1080p HP monitor but i am looking for a single 27" 2k monitor with 100% color gamut that has a high refresh rate 5ms or less around $600-$700

I am open to suggestions thanks for the help

Get a 2x8GB memory kit. It is more efficient and will allow you to upgrade memory if that is ever needed.

Get a single ssd. For not much more than the price of the two Corsair one can get a 1TB drive. Use logical volumes if you really want to keep things separate.

If the intent is to RAID the WD Green, get WD Red. Red are designed for that. Green are not. Otherwise get a 4TB drive.

It seems like a real waste of resources to replace five stock fans with fans costing as much as the case. Especially since they are all from the same manufacturer. Although I can appreciate LED fans for the front.

You might consider using a Nzxt Kraken X61 cpu cooler or the Corsair H110. If you are contemplating a custom loop you might look into the Swiftech H220-X which can be a nice intermediate step.

As good as the AX-860i psu is, it seems like real overkill. Unless there is an unmentioned plan in place to add a second gpu you may want to consider getting something in the 650W range.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

I am not doing a raid setup the reason I have two green drive s is I have allot of music and alot of pictures and videos and cad files having 2 drives in theory allows multiple things to be done at the same time with less latency for example one truck pulls 2 trailers vs 2 trucks pulling 1 trailer each I also don't know yet if I want a ssd storing all of my games on it I have a metric ton of them and I hate load screens with a passion so if I had a ssd for my games and a ssd for my OS and software it would be perfect the goal here I guess is for the computer to be able to do 7 different things at once with minamal interruption

The reason for a 800w plus psu is I have no clue what I am doing after I am done building this thing I may a year from now put 1 more 780ti in it. depending on if there was not already a better card out by the time I build this thing like a gtx 790 or 880ti plus water cooling and maybe a death ray and the ax860i is really cheap on Amazon right now so why not

6 fans four push pull on the rad one in the back one on the bottom and there all the same pressure fans I may do a water loop but I am still doing research

The analogy is far from a good one. Having multiple channels/drives is only going to improve performance if you can actually use them concurrently. Loading a game is going to use whatever drive has the game. Have the o/s on the same drive or another drive. Heck have each game on a different drive. It is not going to make that one game load any faster.

If you really want to improve ssd performance consider a PCIe x2 or x4 card - Plextor PX-AG512M6E. Or, and I don't recommend this, put two ssd in a RAID 0 array.

Same holds true for the two green drives. But more so as green drives are not the fastest "trucks" around. I expect a single 4TB 7200 rpm hdd will outperform non-raid 2TB green drives every time - higher density and lower rotational latency.
