Need a new TKL keyboard...

Go to solution Solved by Verne,

Race is always an alternative to Poker. The Race has arrow keys and function keys while still being smaller than standard ten-keyless design. However, it also means it is harder to customize with keycaps if you want to do that.

Ducky G2PRO or Shine 3 TKL are great offerings from Ducky. The Shine 3 TKL has fancy lighting effects while the G2PRO comes equipped with better keycaps made from PBT instead of ABS.

Another one I would suggest is CM Storm Quickfire Rapid-i. Great build quality and fancy lighting effects like the Shine 3 TKL, but cheaper.

Oh and if you want something more "Maccy", then Matias makes some nice boards. Their main line uses custom ALPS switches instead of Cherry switches, though.

None of them has the "floating" keys unless you want to mod it yourself by removing the cases, though. As far as I know, Corsair's boards are only ones with that design and are readily available.

Before i explain what my preferences are please note that i am on a mac (yeah i know, fear not as i am in the process of converting to a 4K monster), so the keyboard will have to work on that.  Not well though, just enough to get me by until i get my build finished in november/december. (waiting for the 800 series)

I have a blackwidow ultimate from 2012-13 (can't remember which one) and i NEVER use the numpad, ever. It's getting uncomfortable with my mouse being too far away and i don't have enough room on my desk, and it's just a bad situation.  So i need a TKL keyboard, but i'm having issues finding the right one...  The most important thing to me is probably the switches, i really want cherry MX blues or browns. (i prefer blues tbh)  I'd LIKE to have "floating keys" like on the vengeance K65 (which i found to be perfect, then i saw that it only came in reds), and a metal housing/upper is definitely a plus.  I don't want a wrist-rest as my keyboard slide-out thingy is too short and i also think it looks better without one.  I was planning on getting the poker 2, but i really don't want to have to fool around with the double function keys and all that, i'd rather have dedicated arrow and function keys.  I'd rather not buy a keyboard from china that i have to buy from a retailer that i can't pronounce the name of, but if i have to to get the best experience, i will.  Any help would be great as i don't know too much about keyboards.

Thanks

~Ducky
