Hello all,

 In the past days i was starting thinking about upgrading my graphic card. I currently use the Gigabyte Radeon HD 7870 O.C 2GB DDR5 and i can say that i am currently satisfied, but when i want ot play a game with more needs i see a lot of spikes (crysis 3 is a fine example). I usually play mmorpg games but there are frequent occasions that i play other games such as watch dogs battlefield 4 and more. so here is my question:

Is it worth to upgrade to a new GPU?

If yes what do you propose that is best related to my system as well?

Just to give you a hint about where i was looking : http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4647#ov

Thanks in advance guys it will help me a lot cause my mind is pretty much messed up about what to buy and where to look in order to get the best outcome.

the price of the GTX770 is not worth the upgrade to

the 290 4GB Windforce may be a good one

but you can pick the Sapphire 290 Tri-X

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Just turn down the settings a bit?

If my laptop with an a6 3400m and radeon hd 6720g2 graphics can run crysis 3 on minimum settings 1680 x 1050 with 20+ FPS then your 7870 should not have much problem running it on low-medium 1080p with 30+ fps.

The game looks amazing on low settings, I wouldn't bother getting a new GPU to be able to run it on high, atleast not until the gtx 880 comes out and prices drop.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

@Mots3

Welcome to Linus Tech Tips! I'd recommend this. as a replacement, or you could get this and run it in crossfire with your current card.

Thanks a lot for the welcome :) hmmm yeah the crossfire seems to be the best thing to do as i saw the other comments as well

Yeah i can say that i prefer performance

yea pick the 290 for a big performance jump

your board can support crossfire down the road for more FPS
