Hi I’m giving up on the console and switching to PC gamin. I've built basic PC before but nothing this grand. I want to do it right and not spend too much.

I live in Maryland if that helps with anything. I would like to keep the PC itself around $1000.

My goal for the PC:

~is to last 3 to 4 years without major upgrading

~play current games on ultra or high settings

Things I need recommendations for:

~good gaming monitor with at least 1080 and bigger then 17inches would be nice for around $150

~a decent gaming mouse with little to no macros for under $50

~a gaming keypad with a nice joystick and macros for under60$

The build that I could use some help on (would like to know if there a better part for same price, or over spending, etc.)

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Cj2tech/saved/3hPQzy

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core $200

Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing(might go with a Corsair H60) $ 25

RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 $73

Motherboard: Asus Z97-AR ATX LGA1150 $150

Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" SSD for OS and steam and day z $85

Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Mass storage might get 4 to run in raid 10 $50 to $200

Video card: Gigabyte Radeon R9 270 2GB WINDFORCE will be over clocking it $170

Case: Corsair Vengeance C70 (Black) ATX Mid Tower $70 (looks great and good function?) might go with a Zalman z11 to mod it with insta-rust

Power supply Corsair 600W ATX12V $60

Optic: LG GH24NSB0 DVD/CD Writer $12

OS: window 8.1 $90

WiFi card: TP-Link TL-WDN3800 802.11a/b/g/n PCI-Express x1 $30 (need wifi. cant hard wire in any way)

Current configure price: $1015

Please no fan-boy battles just looking to get the "best bang for my buck" items and stuff that I can find in stores like micro center

Thank you for your time for helping and looking at this post.

thanks for the input i was debating on the 270 because alot of reviews say that the 270 is better when overclocked then the 290.

what is your opinion on that???? is the 290 better for overclocking if need be? I've never been a real experience overclocker

 or how about this one???http://www.microcenter.com/product/425815/AMD_Radeon_R9_270_Overclocked_2048MB_PCIe_30_x16_Video_Card

or should i just hold or till i can get a 290?

Hi cj2tech,

If you want to built a RAID with the hard drives you're going to use for storage, I could advise you to use the WD Red drives, as they are designed for RAID configurations. The 1 TB WD Red (WD10EFRX) has 64 MB cache, NASware 3.0 (or 2.0 depending on the retailer) for further optimizing and should fit your cost range.

Otherwise, WD has developed hard drives specifically for gaming and maximum performance - WD Black. The 1 TB Black drive has again 64 MB cache and 7200 RPM.

Still, if you'd prefer to use the WD Blue series, you shouldn't have problems, they are just designed for every day computing and storage.

I hope I gave you some further insight. If you'd like to see more detailed specifications, you could go to the official WD site and check them under Internal storage/ Desktop.

yea i am now able to squeeze a 280 which is way better than the 270

mobo dont impact performance

so i pick another Z97 board but with CrossFire support

EVGA PSU are good and this has 750 watts which is plenty for 280 CrossFire in the near future

the C70 green is on discount so i chose that

The r9 290 will destroy it no matter the overclocks :) though its a bit more pricey
