How to control my Steam Big picture

So I just figured out that in order to run in-home streaming you need only the crappiest of computers, so I am setting up a living room "media pc" and I am trying to decide what to get for a controller.  The obvious option is an Xbox 360 controller, but since that doesn't work outside of games (to open steam and watch movies and stuff) I am thinking something else might be better like a wireless mouse and keyboard, and I was wondering what solutions were out there.  Linus mentioned something he uses, but I don't remember what it was.  Anyway, what are your ideas?

I'd say that logitech keyboard+touchpad combo is good but if you really want only controller you can use Logitech F710 as you can program the buttons.

 

Or you can buy an air mouse, I think Linus mentioned in his latest cooling mod video that he's using it after he broke the receiver...

 

Or you can use your phone as your touchpad/keyboard, I use my Android phone with Unified Remote.

^^ agreed, thats what I ve been using for the last 2 years. Works great, replace battery's every 6 weeks

Also works with wireless xbox 360 controller @ the same time.
