Overclocking my Computer! Yay!

Hi guys, so I've been reading and watching stuff to learn how to overclock and now that I want to I have something to ask all of you.

 

This is my build at least what you will need to know.

 

I5-4670k

Gigabyte Z97X UD5H

CM Hyper 212 EVO running in Push/Pull

Corsair Vengeance 2 x 8GB 1600MHz

 

What are the synthetic programs that I should run to stress test my overclock? 

 

Also I've been using RealTemp to measure my cpu and gpu temps but I hear that it isn't very good.

 

So basically I'm asking for the programs that I should use. Really appreciate all your guys help!

AIDA64, OCCT<-- for CPU stress testing

Real temp is good ;)

For stressing, Prime95. Leave it running for 45 min- 1hr and see how it is.

nope nope nope prime 95 isn't intended for haswell it will damage the cpu use aid64

Okay, so I HWMonitor installed and running and it is saying that my core temps are 20C higher than what it says in RealTemp, so this is really concerning. This doesn't seem right to me.

 

Edit: OCCT says the same thing as HWMonitor so I'm going to go by that instead of RealTemp

intel extreme tuning utility.

I like CPU-z HWmonitor, and intel extreme tuning utility. But AIDA64 is also a good tool.

OCCT is very good for stability testing. 3h should be enough with that. For finding right settings I use 15min runs. RealTemp should be fine. It reports same temps for me as OCCT and OpenHardwareMonitor. Other recommended stress tests are Aida and XTU. You should also have CPU-Z open for voltage monitoring.
