Windows 8 underperforming

d6s

I haven't even had windows 8 for a whole week yet and am already running into problems....

first... everything about windows 8 seems to have broken itself.... I booted up...and Skype, Spotify, Razer Synapse, all of the programs that should start, did not start automatically.... when I started skype, I had to re-type my password... when I went into the start window... all I saw was a bunch of colorful squares until the pictures and text loaded for each shortcut... and if I go to the apps page... all of them are grey for a few second until the color finally loads.... then if I go back to the start window... it starts all over again

Wow, hilarious troll post.

EDIT: This is a troll post right? You described windows 8 then complained... I might look like an asshole now, but I already do on this forum so who cares.

My suggestion: switch to Windows 7, then wait for Windows 9. I have never seen problems for Windows 7 about it under performing, and, come on, this is Windows 8. Not even Microsoft are proud of it any more.

Have you updated to 8.1? Did you just build the computer or is it an older system? You may also want to run a diagnostic on your hard drive like Seatools, could be a failing hard drive.

Or if you aren't bothered, do what Orange suggested and switch to Windows 7. It's by far their most stable OS after Windows XP.

You kind of have two options. Either revert to Windows 7 and see if that solves it or do some tests such as memtest to see if it detects and faulty parts

You can get it cheap on /r/softwareswap or something, and I know some people who got it for *cough* free.

They are. It is either your OS or your parts.

i'm not going to get it for *cough* free because of the risks that come with it

Do you have the latest graphics drivers installed? Is there a certain time that this started happening after, such as installing a program or driver, or has it been doing this since you installed?

These are the only 2 options. Generally it will be either the operating system that's causing this problem or one of the parts installed in your machine. Either your RAM or harddrives

If you know how to do it there really aren't really any risks, not that I support doing it... or do it myself....   Either way, there's no reason Windows 8 shouldn't be working for you, I'd keep trying to get it to work.

You are completely sure its not your parts then? In that case, have you tried backing up any data you want to keep to an external and installing a clean Windows 8.1?

Run some diagnosis test to see if it is faulty parts, if it isn't faulty parts then re-install Windows 8.1, if it is faulty parts, fix it. If all else fails, install Windows 7.
