Windows 8 underperforming

d6s

yeah but those were some of the first things I installed

Well was Windows acting like that when you first installed? If not I'd imagine it would be a driver or program messing it up. You can try disabling all of the items in your startup with Ccleaner or in Msconfig (you might actually be able to do it in task manager in Windows 8, I don't remember), and then rebooting to see if that fixes it.

And you noticed this issue immediately? Or did it take a couple of days to happen?

It just started happening today

Run some diagnosis test to see if it is faulty parts, if it isn't faulty parts then re-install Windows 8.1, if it is faulty parts, fix it. If all else fails, install Windows 7.

how would I reinstall windows 8?

Wipe both the SSD and HDD (after backing up any data), then put in the Windows 8.1 installation disk like you did the first time.

Roses are red, violets are blue, computers are awesome, and so are you!

That's good, maybe just install one program or driver at a time to see if something causes it again, and then you will know what the issue is. I have a feeling it's either Razer Synapse or a driver, but that's just me.

If a system restore fixed it you need to try and remember what you installed so that you don't install it again. Intentionally or accidentally

am i the only one whos switched to windows 8.1 and have had no problem what so ever. and actully liked it

I've personally never used Windows 8 before and I don't judge it until I have regardless of what others say. However, really the only reason I'd use Windows 8 is if I have a touchscreen monitor or an AMD processor (which I do) as a processor with more cores benefits slightly better on Windows 8 compared to Windows 7

I just used a bootable flash drive.... but how would the product key work again?

to be fair i noticed quite a jump in performance on system since the swap one most noticble would be restart times. i how ever use classic shell cause no matter how much i like this os i have no need for the metro screen. xD

Yeah I've heard that a lot of people install Classic Start on their Windows 8 machines but we're going off topic here

It will definitely work since your license key is for 1 PC, when you reformat your current PC, your key is once again freed up since there isn't a PC it is installed on. It will not work if you try to use it on a different PC with the key being active on your current PC however

Either call up or email Microsoft Support and explain to them that you just reformatted your PC and to free up your license key again.

That seems like a botched install more than anything to me. I suggest you do a clean install with a 8.1 iso.
