Is there a way to join a private server though? Can I just modify Windows's host file?

You aren't getting the point. You can join a private server to mess about on that isn't in any way related to the official CoC server by modifying the DNS code on iOS, but I want to know if I can do that on PC.

I don't mean hacking for gems, I mean a private server where I can mess about.
