A H100 mod ?

Go to solution Solved by D3LTA9,

I just want to do my cpu for now!

Yeah as everyone has said buy a kit to do your first loop dont try mod an AIO. XSPC, EKWB and Alphacool all offer fairly reasonably priced kits that come with everything you need to set up a basic cpu loop, most can even support a low restriction GPU block as well. They also offer more high end kits but I would recommend just starting with a basic one like the XSPC Raystorm kits.

There is also the swifttech h220 that would work for you as well as mentioned above. Either way best to get familiar with the ins and outs of water cooling before building a loop to avoid costly mistakes with incorrect parts or installation or worse a system killing leak!

Is it possible to take the rad & do a loop with it cause I want to do a loop for the 1st time?

Thank you!

Can't I just cut the hoses off & put the new ones on?

Hoe would you attach them? I recommend looking more into watercooling before doing a custom loop.

You could. I've seen mods done with Closed Liquid Coolers, however now you have to deal with adding a resivoir and dealing with bimetal corrosion since most blocks you'll find are not aluminum.

Consider selling your H100 and start a loop from scratch.

No, the pump is not really good enough to support extra components, DO NOT DO IT, plus they are not really designed to be refilled

Water cooling is a luxury not a necessity, and most air coolers good enough for 99% of people

IF you can afford a proper loop, dont do one

So you guys think I should just do a loop with all new parts!

I would not suggest chopping up an h100.

Just keep it on your CPU

Besides you probably cannot get water blocks for your GPUs as they custom

Yeah that is a great kit. That pump will actually allow you to expand to most reasonable options in the future. Will fairly easily accommodate a couple rads, cpu block and a couple of gpu blocks.

Only things to watch out for is that the RX series rads are quite think so make sure you have the clearance for them and a set of fans (usually adds 25mm unless you go slim line). A lot of cases do not have enough room between the top of the case and the top of the mobo to fit a think rad. For example I have a HAF X too and only have a 35mm thick rad in top and even then its still pretty close to my mobo vrm block.

I would also consider getting as bigger rad as you can fit in the top of your case. Which for you is a 360mm or 120.3 and even then you wont be able to have an optical drive in the top slot.

Final thing to consider is where you will mount the tube res? I had to mount mine at the back panel of my case which blocks my 2 gpu's making the loop a pain in the ass to do anything on and strip down. Might want to consider a bay res XSPC kit for that reason like this one:

or

http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_202_972&products_id=33590

if you are worried about the clearence of the 40mm thick AX series rad.

Hope that helps! feel free to ask any more questions
