Yo guys,

I am about to completely upgrade my setup. Currently I have a 19" 8 year old flat screen monitor.

That's why I can't imagine How it would be to game on TV or wether I could game from a couch with a 24" Monitor.

For me it would be Ideal if I could game from my couch that would be around 2 meters away.

So I did a bit of research already and found out that many Tvs have either high input lag or high reaction time or both.

So can someone give suggestions on reasonably sized and prized TVs or Monitors that would fit my need?

unless you are playing competitively i dont see a issue, i mean.. look at the dirty console peasants, they game on tv's. sure they are lower beings and as such makes it hard to compare with, but it should be fine for games where precision isnt important

Like what Rorgash said, if it's not competitively, a TV would be fine (look at Barnacules)... What might kill the experience would be the input lag (if it has noticeable input lag), color reproduction (I own a Prestiz 32" and the colors are oversaturated with slightly high gamma before I calibrated it), and post-processing (the said TV didn't display text from my PC well enough out of the box because of this)....

In my experience, the input lag is noticeable in something life BF3/4. I played a lot of mass effect and skyrim when my girlfriend was over and we had my PC plugged into the TV and casual games were fine

I used a TV as a monitor for 3 years, now it's my secondary. I play well enough for people to notice me when I'm serious.

As with many things, your mileage may vary.

I have a Samsung Series 6 LCD television which presents no noticeable input lag even with all image

processing features enabled. However I have previously played on some televisions where input lag

was quite noticeable even on a gaming console.

If possible, try before you buy. The vast majority of modern televisions should be perfectly functional

as a gaming display.
