Is this the best possible build for $2000? I think so. I believe this computer has the horsepower necessary for gaming and mid-level computation, whilst having room for upgrading further down the road. I could get more memory, another GPU, or a HDD if I want. Any suggestions or objections? I almost feel like faster memory might be worth it at this price-point, but what do I know?

Please don't get LED fans they look ugly and you don't need all those fans. I Would suggest getting an SSD and a Hard drive over 2 SSDS. Get a cheaper motherboard as well. You can easily fit 2 R9 290s in that budget which will destroy any game you throw at it as long as it's CF compatible (Most games are these days)

I bought a 780ti with a $2000. I think you could fit it in.

Maybe a RM750, 8 GB of ram and a 780ti would be better.

Don't get a intel 730? Get a Samsung 840 Evo 500 gb. 840 is better than the 730.

Not in speeds but price:GB. OP, get a 500GB 840 EVO and a 780 Ti.

Yea, I can see that. Maybe less fans, 8GB of rams, cheaper mobo, 850w and a 780ti?

Why should you care about OP's fan preference? There are some pretty nice looking builds out there that use LED fans, and even the last build guide that Linus made used Spectre Pro LED fans. They may look ugly to you, but let OP figure that out for himself once he actually gets the build put together.

Maybe you could read the thread pinned at the top in the new builds the post by @Windspeed36

I don''t know your @Linus.Valenzuela objective with the build. Not too boast but you could make a X79 with $2000 (but it's not exactly recommended)

Please become a member of the Linus Tech Tips forum, keep writing smug remarks & let us love you. Peace out.

For 2000$ it isnt better.... Every major component is lower tier/quality/last gen

I got the 4690k because it's a better value for a gaming CPU

The motherboard was changed because I just have a hardon for gigabyte

I get that the SSD and HDD would get worse performance, but I don't see the need for 2 SSDs with less total storage with minimal benefit

the GPUs were changed to reference coolers because they tend to do better than non-reference in SLI setups.

Cheaper SSDs, a HDD, cheaper PSU, and less unnecessary fans. For the record, the 780Ti seems significantly more expensive with not-so-huge performance enhancements. To me; the 780 is the true sweet spot for gaming and I have room for another if that becomes necessary.

Did you bother to look at the build? i7-4970K is not lower quality or last year. Kraken X61 was released last month. EVGA, Crucial, G.Skill, and Seasonic are hardly lower tier brands.

No it is not generally the "best" rig for $2K. It may be the best for your needs, but generally I would say that most people would pick different parts.

In particular the RM-850 is far from the best or even best priced psu in that range. Currently the EVGA 220-G2-0850-XR is better priced most places and much better quality.

No idea why two 240GB Intel 730 ssd are included. If the idea is to put them in a RAID 0 array, bad idea. For ~$40 more one could get a 1TB ssd. If the plan is RAID 1, Samsung 840 EVO have better performance and have proven very reliable.

I'm not a fan of the armor on the Z97 Sabertooth MK 1. If I was going with Sabertooth quality I would have picked the Mk 2.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
