When ever I boot my laptop it boots fine but after I log in and am on the desktop screen for about a minute it blue screens.

And after another 30 seconds a black screen comes up. If anyone can help me I would be thankful and also if you need anything else to know what the problem is ask.

I think it's an issue with your hard drive, i had this earlier when my hdd was failing. Try a spare one if you have or show it near computer store.

Would probably be a good idea to at least run a hard drive diagnostic before replacing it. Also, have you changed out any hardware or installed any drivers lately? Also would probably be a good idea to do a RAM and hard drive diagnostic.

he can try run windows disk checking utility if he owns a repair disk or probably repair windows.

From what I can tell from some quick Googleing is that this bluescreen is usually caused by hardware/driver issues. I usually use Seatools for DOS to test hard drives and Memtest86 for RAM.

Can I do that in safe mode?

Can I do that in safe mode?

The one's I use (Seatools and Memtest86) can be booted to outside of Windows. You will need to make a bootable CD/USB drive for them. There are also other Windows programs (not really sure which are good or not) that I would assume would work in safe mode. I find it is easier just to run them outside of Windows.

A long time ago, I overclocked my ram with 1.8v and it hardly booted for me and it was overheating as well. Could it has caused the problem?

Is it still overclocked? When did you get the error in Memtest compared to when you overclocked your RAM? I'm guessing there is a good chance they could be related, not too sure though.

No problem, good luck. If those both pass it could also be a driver issue, so keep that in mind too.

Edit: you also might want to check out this program, it might give you some more info on the bluescreen: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/bluescreenview/ (assuming you can boot into Windows)

No, I removed that overclock on the same day after few minutes it failed. Why would keep it though? Just curious. My RAM was dual channel but it's showing single channel in Speccy. Could it be that my computer hardware guy i gave my pc recently to upgrade my psu and case could have changed it to a faulty one?

Unless you forgot to change your voltage or something, or that your RAM was physically damaged while you did overclock it, it shouldn't cause an issue. Not sure why it would be showing as single channel, do you have them in the dual channel slots? I don't think your 'computer hardware guy' would do something like that, unless he is a scumbag.

go ahead and run this program http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html
Then post a screenshot of what it spits out. Also, if you could post a screenshot of your task tray, that could help me.

now after changing ram slot as i have only two on mobo it's not showing any error in memtest86 but bad news is could it be a bad ram slot? (the other one which is spare now)

It could be that it was just seated improperly, you could try putting it back into the other slot and testing it again. Also if you only have one stick of RAM it can't run in dual channel, you need two sticks of RAM for you to be able to run in dual channel. Also, sorry OP for hijacking your thread. :)

well i don't have time and effort to do that again as cables are too messed up due to the fact i have a pretty crappy local cheap case. I really had a hard time doing it before. One thing more, the ram slot bracket seem to be broke and is very loose on the left (the spare one) could it be the problem?

If it caused the contacts on the chip to not make proper contact, then yeah, I would guess it would.
