How to promote a server?

so i really need to find a way to promote this new server that my platoon has purchased on BF4 since we just cant get anyone into the server. what ways would you say that we could promote the server?

you need your platoon to consistently play in the sever untill people join. When those one or 2 people join you need to kiss their feet. make sure you all end up with negative scores and don't try to win or kill them to much or they will leave instantly. all the time wile talking to them in chat (if they answer)

So you have to be realy friendly and nice to everyone that comes in. even if they break the rules a little bit you need those players so that more join. the Key to Starting servers and keeping them going is the number of players.

Its going to take alot of effort and time. and is never as simple as just buying a server. So you and your platoon need to be perapred to play in an empty server consistanly untill people join.

Other things you can do is setup your Procon admin tool correctly. get plugins working such as the admin plugins. the adaptive server size. Spam messager. things like this. This shows people you have put the effort in to setting up the server and they are more likely to stay.

Adaptive server size is a good one if you bought a server with say 48 slots. it will make the sever come down to 16 slots (more people join this way) the more people that join then the slot number will go up say 24 then 32 then 48. once you get to 34 and or 32 players then your server will be instalty full. it also tells people when other players are joining (a good thing)

The key is creating a frendaly environment with as little abuse as possible. And have players that add your server to their favorates and in the end start it for you because they join wanting to play in your server.

the time frame for this can be anywhere between 1 month and maybe 3/4 its never an instant thing where your server is sudanly full all the time.

Another thing that can be a deciding factor is the name. Make it uniqe and stand out to all the others. Maybe it can say what your main rule is IE mine on BF3 is NO-BASE-ATTACKING so we get all the players that want that rule enforced.

Also up-time. in the start of bf4 our servers always crashed due to bugs in the game. every time the server died people would leave and never come back. So a good working server is top priority, it always needs to be on and you only ever turn the server off when no-one is in it at a non peek time IE 2am when everyone is asleep.

To be honest i would say BF4 is close to dead, its still broken so i closed my bf4 server. maybe your better off wating for hardline to come out, who knows. Its hard starting servers and getting people to stay. Iv been doing it for 9 years and its just as hard now as it was back then. Patients and persistence is key, there is no easy way. If there was everyone would have their own server and it would be full all the time.
