Gpu just barely not fitting.

I have a hd7770 and I have been trying to put it in for about 10 minutes now but it just misses the slot by a hair.I have removed the expansion slots so it should slide down but it just doesn't.Do I need to remove the mobo first?I didn't put in the io shield as I couldn't seem to fit the mobo with it.

have you mounted the motherboard correctly? could you post some pictures of what you mean?

All the screws line up on the motherboard the gpu thing just goes a tiny bit too far forward to slot into it.

I had a problem something like this, it would go into the slot but not slide into the case all the way. I flipped the case on its side and it went in properly, not sure if that would help in your case though.
