Ive been having trouble with youtube. when i choose 1080p it ALWAYS cuts the videos really short. like a 15 minutes videos will only play for 2 minutes even if i refresh the page or jump to a point after it always plays the first little bit, it isnt until i go to 720p that i can watch the full video. is this a common problem or is it just me?

I used to have this problem a lot but mine also extended to 720p. Its gone now and i have no idea why or how. You have to wait it out and see,it sucks but I have no idea what happened or how to sort it out. Actually that was the time i was migrating from firefox to chrome to that might be the problem,try and a different browser that isnt IE of course.

It's youtube, I have these problems from time to time, sometimes my 5min video turns into a 30sec video if I change it to 1080, and sometimes youtube likes to give me the 480p layout for some videos, it's really annoying. Die YouTube.
