"poor" R9 270X performance

Go to solution Solved by LukaP,

your cpu is bottlenecking it. get either a 4690 or overclock the shit out of your #cpu

Hi guys I just installed my new GIGABYTE R9 270X and it didnt perform as good as I've seen, I saw a JayzTwoCents video of this card and he was getting almost 100fps on Battlefield 4 at high settings 1080p, I played Battlefield 4 at 1600x900 on ultra and I got several dips on the framerate, to my knowledge this should be happening. What can you guys tell me? How can I "fix" this.

My specs:

CPU: AMD FX 4350 4.2GHZ

GPU: GIGABYTE R9 270OC Version 2GB

PSU: Rosewill Hive series 550W 80+ Bronze

Motherboard: MSI 760GMA P34(FX)

RAM: Gskill 8 GB 1600

the 4350 sucks, you'll need a good CPU to go with a good GPU

CPU: AMD FX-8120 | CPU Cooler: Thermaltake Contac 30 | Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 | Memory: Kingston 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 | Storage: WD 1TB | GPU: Gigabyte Radeon HD 7870 | Case: Thermaltake Chaser MK-I | PSU: Thermaltake Black Widow 850W

CPU bro. Get at least a 6300 but ideally a 8320. Remember these guys that do all these benchmarks list their part list. They go with the AMD 8 cores or a core i7.

The OG System: I3-2370M @ 2.4 GHz, 750GB 5400 RPM HDD, 8GB RAM @1333Mhz, Lenovo Z580 Laptop (Ubuntu 16.04 LTS).

According to this:

Your CPU shouldn't be bottlenecking you. I would test the card in another person's rig. There might be a driver issue or an issue itself with the card.
