NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet or Nexus 7 and How will Nvidia Handle the updates?

LarsReviews

I hate companies from brining out new stuff, before I decide to get something. Mostly I would use a tablet for Videos or Youtube. For Gaming, GTA: SA.

I don't know what to do now. I wanted to get the Nexus 7 this week, but I saw the Video from Linus and that Nvidia Tablet seems to be pretty good. My worries are that Nvidia will end Update support in like a year and there will be no CM for it either. I am a fan of Android 5.

Nvidia have already announced plans for it to support android version 5

I highly doubt nvidia would stop supporting the device, so far they have been extremely good at updating the nvidia note, and shield handheld

There are always ways of rooting the device and installing different versions of android too, if that is something you fancy

The Nexus 7 is no longer the best tablet, it is still good value for money, but for me the Nvidia Shield (as a gamer) would be the tablet I would buy

yeah having micro SD is great, especially as you can install apps and emulators to SD card

also standard hdmi out and stuff, it has alot more connectivity than the nexus 7, awesome stylus input and the gaming stuff is the icing on an already tasty cake

No Qi charging though. I hope the USB port is better than the one on the EVGA Tegra Tablet.

A positive for the Nexus 7 is the huge development community for custom ROMs, kernels and other software that you can take advantage.

That is the only reason why I like my Nexus 4. Even Ubuntu runs kind of ok on there.
