Which PSU should I get?

Go to solution Solved by Aniallation,

Yeah but my PSU is dying, probably a capacitor is making an electrical buzzing noise.

Oh okay. Then if you're limited to the three choices above definitely the seasonic.

Hi I can't decide between these PSUs:

Be Quiet! pure power l8 530w     price: 73€
Seasonic M12II-520W                 price: 61€
Enermax Triathlor eco 550w       price: 75€

Silence and modular cables is what I'm looking for.
You can post links of other PSUs you recommend but probably they are not available in my country.

without looking into them much i can say that seasonic is generally a great brand to go with when looking at a power supply but i would suggest jonnyguru.com for power supply reviews. or you could wait for someone to weigh in with their personal experience

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Of the ones you listed I would be forced to choose the Seasonic one. However I would urge you to look at some other options.

I personally own a EVGA SuperNOVA Nex PSU and can whole heartedly recommend it. Corsair is also known for making high quality PSUs.

Here are some links and I hope this helps. :)

Welcome to LTT!

Where are you located? The Seasonic would definitely be the one I'd recommend out of that list, however what specs are you running in your PC?

Probably the new nVidia 800 series or AMD's new series, or maybe I'll wait for Maxwell.

If maxwell you'll likely cut it with 450W as long as you're not overclocking. Anything people can run on those Silverstone 450W SFX PSUs (look up RVZ01 builds) then your PSU can do tbh

Well I'm not limited to only those three but those are my top picks :D

Anyway thanks, I'll get the seasonic :) (even if I like the detachable PCI-Es on the Be Quiet! one)

Yeah the L8 isn't one of their great power supplies. The internal components aren't nearly as good as Seasonic's, aside from the fan.

Now I just read that all Seasonics have coil whine.

Oh well :(

And BTW how would you rate those 3 PSUs on a 0 to 10 scale?

It's kind of common issue (comparing high-pitched noise to any other defects) with many new PSUs, not just Seasonic. Also it's mainly the X series that seem to be having this problem not the M2's.

I've never had any PSU, cheap or expensive, have coil whine. My phone charger has it, but as long as I know it won't blow up I'm cool with it
