Buildlog: Thunder – Colour-scheme black and copper/red with 7990.

 

Background and who I am:

Hi all, it’s time for me to make my annual upgrade to my computer, but first I just wanted you to know who I am and why I am doing this. I have always as far back as I can remember had a keen interest in computer hardware and network components. This has driven me to always buy or upgrade my computer in some way. It’s been my annual spending point and I always look forward to tinker with my precious. Last year was the first year I water-cooled my computer and let’s say I was not very good at it at first, hehe my first build looked like shite! But after more planning and research it turned out quite all right (see the first picture below). Well this year it’s time to take my gaming into the next step with a resolution of 5720x1080, 3 monitors, and some form of SLI/CF setup so I decided I wanted some new cool gear to put into my computer. Well enough of my rant, hope you enjoy reading this as I have enjoyed building it. And thank you for an awesome community!

New Rig and picture with tearing my old computer apart and getting the new up and running (will upload more pictures soon!). I decided my cpu and motherboard was enough for now, until Ivy-e comes out and a new cpu will be put into the rig along with a better PSU.

This is a rough disasembly process of my old rig, the chassi is now empty and will in the future contain my homeserver. I am in a middle of a move atm so next update will be in about 2 weeks, when new stuff has arrived and me and my wife has moved to the new location! Sorry for some of the pictures being in low quality, my camers is packed atm so I have to makedo with my Lumia 920 camera.

I've never found the stock 7990 to be a pretty card, but one can't deny it's pure beastlyness.Can't wait to see it in action man.
